Recovery Tip 23: Turn Your Focus Inward

Today’s tip on how to help an addicted loved one recover is found in my book “Unhooked”. In here, I offer a bunch of suggestions that help my family members as they began to take their focus off me and start to turn it inward and look at areas that they could improve on. For example, they began to attend regular Al-Anon meetings and self help groups. My parents entered the family therapy group at the treatment center I was in and they began to read a ton of bibliotherapy, a bunch of recovery, self help books, which naturally helped them adopt this new approach one day at a time. So as you begin to help your addicted, loved one recover, turn your focus off of your addicted loved one and begin to focus on the areas you need help with.
