Recovery Tip 29: Steps To Surrender

Today’s tip on how to help an addicted loved one recover actually comes from my book “Unhooked” and these steps to surrender are:

1: Figure out where we have control and where we don’t.

2: Make friends with our worst case scenario and our worst fear.

3: Let go of your attachment to a specific outcome.

4: Become willing to grieve the loss in order to let go of that outcome.

5: Let go and trust a higher power because there is a better plan for our lives and your addicted loved one’s life.

6: Absolutely believe in the desired outcome. Just let go of the attachment to it.

7: Actually practice surrender either in a prayer or in writing, knowing that, surrender put into practice, liberates us from fear and emotional battlefields.
