Jason Coombs, CEO of Brick House Recovery in Coeur DAlene, Idaho, has been awarded the 2022 Idaho Rural Health Hero Award. The award recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve the health and wellbeing of rural communities in Idaho.

Coombs was nominated for the award by his peers in recognition of his commitment to improving access to mental health services in rural areas of Idaho. He established Brick House Recovery as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality mental health care to underserved populations in rural areas. His team provides evidencebased therapies and support services including individual, family, and group counseling; medication management; crisis intervention; case management; and referral services.

I am incredibly honored to receive this award, said Coombs. My goal has always been to make sure that everyone in our community has access to quality mental health care regardless of their financial situation or geographic location. I am proud of the work that we have done at Brick House Recovery and I look forward to continuing our efforts to improve mental health outcomes for all Idahoans.

Coombs is passionate about breaking down barriers that prevent people from accessing mental health care, especially those living in rural areas where resources are often scarce. His team works with local partners such as schools, churches, and community organizations to provide free or lowcost services for those who may not be able to afford traditional therapy sessions or medications.

He also works with state legislators on policy initiatives that can help expand access to mental health care across Idaho. In addition to his work at Brick House Recovery, Coombs is an active member of many professional associations including the American Counseling Association (ACA), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the American Psychological Association (APA).

He serves on several boards including the Idaho Board of Behavioral Health Professionals and the North Central District Behavioral Health Board.

The 2022 Idaho Rural Health Hero Award will be presented at a ceremony later this year. Coombs will be recognized alongside other award recipients for their dedication and commitment to improving healthcare access for all Idahoans.
